In 1988 Alby James directed the Temba Theatre Company production of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" . The play, for this production, was set in Cuba and the music score was composed to echo Latin, Caribbean & colonial moods. The music itself was "orchestrated" for solo nylon-strung guitar and performed on a Takamine guitar, which, combined with a Shadow GTM6 analogue to MIDI converter, triggered synthesizers and produced the orchestral, sound and stage effects. "Caribbean Fantasy for Acoustic Guitar" is a compilation of the main pieces from the two and a half hours of music that the play contained. The wide diversity of Latin dance styles within the suite includes bossa, calypso, rumba, salsa, samba, tango, waltz, "mexicana" and fusion. Includes access to online audio. Read more
